The homes in Carter Place are part of the 2017 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project where former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and Mrs. Carter spent time building homes last July.

The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation joined Habitat's efforts last summer, helping fund two homes through a $250,000 donation to the Carter Work Project. In addition to the financial contribution, the EOCF organized 125 volunteers from the Oilers Foundation and OEG to work on the homes during the project. Since December 2017, 20 families have been presented keys to their homes at Carter Place. When Carter Place is completed, there will be 58 families with over 200 children living in the community.

"We are excited that so many people from Oilers Entertainment Group are lending their hands to build homes for local families," said Karen Stone, President & CEO of Habitat for Humanity Edmonton. "The Oilers organization's volunteer commitment and generous support will greatly benefit the next 38 families who will move into our Carter Place development."

Today's volunteers included OEG CEO & Vice Chair Bob Nicholson, who also hosted community leaders at Habitat's 2018 Presidents Build in June.

"Oilers Entertainment Group and the Oilers Foundation are proud of their ongoing partnership with Habitat for Humanity Edmonton," said Nicholson. "This is a memorable and rewarding experience for our volunteers, who are able to get involved and see firsthand the impact our Foundation and Habitat have in our community."
