Jesse Puljujarvi, taken fourth overall in the 2016 NHL Draft, has been improving seemingly each and every game. His coaching staff has confirmed that, and the player himself sees the improvement.
"I'm feeling better every game," said Puljujarvi, who has been taking English courses in Edmonton. "My skating is feeling better and everything after that is feeling better."
Puljujarvi hasn't scored since the season opener, but he has contributed in other ways. Against Toronto, he registered seven shots on goal. He generated a few scoring opportunities last night in a 5-3 loss to New York, and assisted on Patrick Maroon's goal.
Puljujarvi says his focus has been on his skating.
"Shooting the puck more is one and then skating as well," he said.
Puljujarvi was skating on a line with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins at Friday's practice.
"It's exciting," Puljujarvi said. "I think we'll play good. He's a very good player, and smart."
