PRESS RELEASE: Oilers acquire Mark Fraser

General Manager Craig MacTavish announced today the Edmonton Oilers have acquired defenceman Mark Fraser from the Toronto Maple Leafs, in exchange for right winger Cameron Abney and the rights to left winger Teemu Hartikainen.

Fraser, 27, has appeared in 19 games for Toronto this season, registering one assist and 33 penalty minutes.

The 6’4”, 220-pound blueliner has spent time with the New Jersey Devils and Toronto Maple Leafs over the past six seasons, accumulating 17 points (3G, 14A), 204 penalty minutes, and a plus 12 rating in 162 career NHL games.

Fraser was originally selected by New Jersey in the 3rd round, 84th overall in the 2005 NHL Draft.
