The American Hockey League announced today centre Anton Lander and defenceman Brad Hunt were both named to the American Hockey League’s Western Conference All Star team.
Lander, 23, has appeared in 29 games with the Barons this season, posting 31 points (9G, 22A). The 6’0”, 186-pound centre leads the Barons with 22 assists and his 31 points ties him for the team lead and also ranks him eighth in AHL scoring.
The native of Sundsvall, Sweden has appeared in 136 games with the Barons, registering 108 points (37G, 71A). Lander was selected by the Oilers in the second round (40th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and has appeared in 97 games with Edmonton, recording nine points (2G, 7A).
Hunt, 26, has appeared in 20 games with the Barons this season, notching 22 points (7G, 15A) ranking him fifth among AHL defencemen. The 5’9”, 187-pound blueliner has played in 86 career games with the Barons, accumulating 72 points (18G, 54A).
The Maple Ridge, British Colombia native was named a second team AHL All Star last season after he registered 50 points (11G, 39A), ranking him fifth in the league. Hunt began the 2014-15 season with Edmonton and has appeared in 11 games with the Oilers this season, posting three points (1G, 2A).
The 2015 AHL All Star Classic presented by Turning Point Resort and Casino is January 25 – 26 in Utica, New York. The 2015 AHL All Star Classic pits the top players from the Western Conference against the top players from the Eastern Conference. The two-day event also features a skills competition and induction ceremony into the AHL Hall of Fame.
