EDMONTON, AB, September 16, 2014 – Pizza 73, Western Canada’s leading pizza chain, will enjoy a bigger slice of hockey action thanks to the announcement of a new partnership with the Edmonton Oilers. The multi-year deal, a first between the organizations, makes Pizza 73 the official pizza of the Edmonton Oilers and Edmonton Oil Kings.
As part of the sponsorship, Pizza 73 will have on-site concessions serving slices, as well as a strong visual presence around the home arena for the two teams at Rexall Place.
“The Oilers organization has always been a champion in our eyes,” said Pat Finelli, Chief Marketing Officer for Pizza 73. “Edmonton is where Pizza 73 first opened its doors in 1985, and so partnering with this team is an exciting step for our brand. We intend to bring as much commitment, energy and passion off the ice with our products and service as the players bring on the ice.”
“We are thrilled to bring great pizza to our fans at Rexall Place and help build the Pizza 73 brand across Oil Country,” said Patrick LaForge, President and COO for Oilers Entertainment Group. “Pizza and hockey is a match made in heaven. Our fans will be particularly delighted to have Pizza 73, with its deep roots in Edmonton, as the official pizza of the Edmonton Oilers.”
Pizza 73 is committed to supporting the communities it serves and is no stranger to sports sponsorships. The company sponsors the Calgary Flames, Hitmen, Stampeders, FC Edmonton, as well as a number of minor sports teams across Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. In addition, the pizza chain supports Children's Miracle Network and local children's hospitals, like Stollery Children's Hospital and Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation through its Slices for Smiles Foundation.
