On Monday, the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of Canada held its annual golf tournament and received plenty of support from the Edmonton Oilers including the participation of five players from this past season and four alumni members. Their assistance helped raise $125,000 for the foundation.
The tournament was sold out a month prior to the event and was held at the Edmonton Country Club thanks to Mr. Gary Ward of the ECC, hosted by Fernando Pisani and the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of Canada President Ken Wicks.
The five Oilers from 2007-08 in attendance were Steve Staios, Curtis Glencross, Kyle Brodziak, Geoff Sanderson and Fernando Pisani.
For prizing, an RBK representative was able to get the tournament Oiler jerseys for all the players in attendance as well as Ethan Moreau and Jarret Stoll. The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation made an Oiler Fly and Golf package available for auction and the Edmonton Oilers Alumni contributed a donation as well. These and other auction items raised a total of $38,625.00 for the charity.
“Planning is currently in the works for the 2009 event and we look forward to strengthening our relationship with the Edmonton Oilers, Alumni and the Community Foundation,” said Ken Wicks, President of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of Canada.
