The Edmonton Capitals will be welcoming a very special guest to help launch the 2010 Season presented by Canadian Tire. The ceremonial first pitch honours for the Caps first home game of the season belong to none other than Edmonton Oilers Hall Of Fame voice Rod Phillips.
The Capitals will pay tribute to the veteran broadcaster who just announced his retirement and farewell tour ‘Rod’s Classics’ where he’ll call ten games in the 2010 – 11 Edmonton Oilers season to round out his illustrious career.
Phillips has spent nearly four decades bringing Oilers hockey into the lives and living rooms of Edmonton Oilers hockey fans. ‘Rod’s Classics’ will feature ten hand-picked games that will give the voice of the Oilers an opportunity to stroll down memory lane recalling some of his career highlights and special moments in Oilers franchise history. He’s been thrown a curve ball or two in his brilliant career so now it’s his turn to toss one back.
The Edmonton Capitals are Edmonton’s first choice for professional baseball and family entertainment so it’s only fitting one of the most beloved figures in the Edmonton Oilers family will start the season off in style. Game time versus Maui Na Koa Ikaika is 7 p.m. Don’t forget, the first 2,500 fans to the Capitals Home Opener will receive a FREE Team Magnetic Schedule!
Capitals season seats start at under $9 per game and individual game tickets are available for just $10 every game. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations, the TELUS Field Box Office during regular business hours, at (780) 414-GOAL (4625) or online at capsbaseball.ca.
