Slovenia rallied to a 3-0 lead in the third, after two scoreless periods, and downed Slovakia for their first-ever victory at the Olympic Games, 3-1.
At 3:23 of the third period, Ziga Jeglic set up Rok Ticar for the backhanded goal, five-hole on Jaroslav Halak. The power play goal gave Slovenia the 1-0 lead.
At 8:59 of the final frame, Slovenia Captain Tomas Razingar scored to give his team a two-goal lead.
The final tally for Slovenia came just 23 seconds later when Anze Kopitar lifted the puck over Halak and in.
Tomas Jurco broke the shutout for Slovakia with 18 seconds remaining in the game but it was too little, too late.

It was one for the ages as the much anticipated preliminary round matchup between the United States and Russia ends in a dramatic eight-round shootout, courtesy of T.J. Oshie’s fourth shootout goal.
Pavel Datsyuk opened up scoring at 9:15 of the second period. He was assisted by Andrei Markov and Alexander Radulov.
The second youngest player on the Team USA roster and youngest on the ice today, Cam Fowler scored on the power play to tie the game at 16:34 of the middle frame.
Joe Pavelski gave USA the go-ahead goal at 9:27 of the third period.
Then, Datsyuk scored his second of the game and this one was the equalizer, at 12:44 of the final frame of regulation.
Russia could have skated away with the win in regulation, but a goal was nullified due to the net being off.
After a scoreless overtime period, the the game would be decided in skills competition.
Jonathan Quick and Sergei Bobrovski traded saves to start the shootout before Ilya Kovalchuck scored.
The Oshie show began on USA’s third shot when he scored on Bobrovski. The St. Louis Blues player would then score on three of his next four shots and carry the Americans to victory.
The game-winner game on a quick wrister five-hole on the Russian goalie.

Jonas Hiller made 26 saves, in his second shutout of the tournament, resulting in Switzerland’s 1-0 win over the Czech Republic, spoiling Jaromir Jagr’s 42nd birthday.
Switzerland scored the first and only goal of the game with just under six minutes remaining in the first period. Denis Hollenstein gave the puck to Simon Bodemann at the left faceoff circle and he beat Ondrej Pavelec, high on the glove side.
That would be the end of the scoring as Hiller put in a calm, cool and collected performance in net and backstopped the Swiss to the win.
