Olympic Break

by Tom Gilbert / Edmonton Oilers
It's been a while since my last blog so I thought I'd sit down and let you know what I've been up to during Olympic break. I started a blog a few weeks ago but didn't get around to finishing it because I was probably distracted by our new dog Eddie. He's 1 1/2 year old german sheppard and has a fun time running around the house with our tiny little chihuahua.

Those two dogs had control of the house for a few days while me and my girlfriend went to Nassau in the Bahamas for a week at the start of the Olympic break. The weather could have been a little better because it was cloudy for five days but we still managed to get some sun. I fried pretty good the first day but I think it's fading into a nice tan.

I actually watched some of the Olympics while we were down there. Team USA has been doing pretty well and I don't want to brag about the win over Canada but I will anyway. Hopefully they don't see each other in the finals if they both get there because I don't want to eat my own words.

Other than hockey I watched a lot of curling while in the Bahamas because it was on TV all the time. I've curled once and it's actually really fun to do and even though the sport seems so slow you can't stop watching it. When we were getting ready to go out for dinner or something it was always on in the hotel room and I just got mesmerized by it.

When we got back to Edmonton we were treated to a nice surprise by our house sitters. My girlfriend's best friend and boyfriend stayed at our house and they took down our Christmas tree. Larissa and I were pretty lazy about doing that so it was really nice of them to take the initiative.

That's about all I have to update you on. We're practicing again so it's nice to get back on the ice. Our next game is Tuesday and the other than practicing and getting ready for that the only thing on my to-do list is a double feature. I think I want to see Shutter Island and The Wolfman but we'll see how it goes.
