The Barons out-shot the Aeros 31-26, but allowed 2 goals in each period. Teemu Hartikainen potted the first goal in Barons franchise history on a breakaway against winning goalie Matt Hackett at 10:53 of the second period for OKC’s only goal. Petr Kalus and Joel Broda each scored 2 goals for the Aeros.

For the second straight game, an opposing goaltender making his professional debut turned in a winning effort, as 19-year-old Edward Pasquale stopped 28 of 29 shots in the Wolves’ 2-1 win. For the second straight game, Teemu Hartikainen scored the Barons’ lone goal.

  • Left winger Teemu Hartikainen scored a goal in each Barons’ game opening weekend, accounting for both OKC tallies in 6-1 and 2-1 setbacks. The 20-year-old Finnish rookie also registered 5 shots on goal and was a +1 in Sunday’s game against Chicago.
  • Saturday’s opening-night attendance of 9,818 at the Cox Convention Center was the best among that night’s 12 AHL games. The weekend average of 6,318 places Oklahoma City 6th in the league heading into the second week of the season.
  • Defenseman Shawn Belle leads the Barons in plus/minus after 2 games at +2. The only other plus players so far are rookie center Milan Kytnar (+1) and veteran right winger Ben Ondrus (+1).
