The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Rem Murray to a one-year contract.
In 54 games with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League this season, Murray has 11 goals and 24 assists for 35 points and 8 penalty minutes.
Murray has played 551 career NHL games with the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers and Nashville Predators during which he scored 93 goals and added 120 assists for 213 points.
This will be Murray's second tour of duty with the Oilers. From 1996 through 2002, Murray played 416 games, scoring 72 goals and adding 90 assists for 162 points with 121 penalty minutes. In 38 playoff games, he had five goals and eight assists for 13 points and 16 PIM.
Most recently, Murray was a member of the Nashville Predators where he played 39 games in 2003-04, with eight goals and nine assists for 17 points. He had 12 penalty minutes.
With the addition of Murray, the Oilers have reassigned forward Brad Winchester to the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL).
