Oilers sign pair to ELCs

The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenceman Ziyat Paigin and free agent goaltender Shane Starrett to two-year entry level contracts.
Paigin, 22, appeared in 17 games with Kazan Ak-Bars of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) this season, recording four points (1G, 3A) and four penalty minutes. He has also appeared in two games with the American Hockey League's (AHL) Bakersfield Condors. The 6'6", 210-pound defenceman also played in 17 games with Kazan in the VHL, registering seven points (5G, 2A) and 24 penalty minutes.
The native of Penza, Russia, has accumulated 34 points (11G, 23A) and 18 penalty minutes in 95 career KHL games. The Edmonton Oilers selected Paigin in the 7th round, 209th overall in the 2015 NHL Draft.
Starrett, 22, appeared in 37 games with the NCAA's Air Force Falcons (Atlantic Hockey) this season, posting a record of 26-6-4, a 1.99 goals against average and .925 save percentage, as well as five shutouts.
This past season he was named the Most Valuable Player at the Atlantic Hockey Final Four and was voted by his teammates as the Falcons Most Valuable Player for a second straight year. Starrett was also a semi-finalist this season for the Mike Richter Award, given to the nation's top goaltender.
The 6'5", 195-pound goaltender has spent the past two seasons with Air Force, accumulating a 42-15-9 record, a 1.96 goals against average, a .925 save percentage and nine shutouts in 70 career NCAA games.
