Oilers reduce roster by nine

The Edmonton Oilers have reduced their training camp roster by nine today. Of the nine player assignments, six players were assigned to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, two were placed on waivers and one was released outright.

Assigned to the Oilers’ AHL affiliate in Springfield were goaltender Devan Dubnyk and forwards Adam Huxley (LW), Liam Reddox (LW), Tim Sestito (LW), Tyler Spurgeon (C) and Viacheslav Trukhno (LW).

Centre Ryan Potulny and right winger Carl Corazzini were placed on waivers, while right wing Guillaume Lefebvre was released from his professional try-out agreement.

With today’s player assignments the Oilers training camp roster stands at 28 players, with three players on the injured list.

GOALTENDERS (3): Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers, Mathieu Garon, Dwayne Roloson

DEFENCE (10): Taylor Chorney, Tom Gilbert, Denis Grebeshkov, Theo Peckham, Mathieu Roy, Ladislav Smid, Sheldon Souray, Steve Staios, Jason Strudwick, Lubomir Visnovsky

FORWARDS (15): Kyle Brodziak, Gilbert Brule, Andrew Cogliano, Erik Cole, Sam Gagner, Ales Hemsky, Shawn Horcoff, Steve MacIntyre, Ethan Moreau, Robert Nilsson, Dustin Penner, Fernando Pisani, Marc Pouliot, Rob Schremp, Zack Stortini

INJURED: Kelly Czuy (W), Jesse Dudas (D) and Jean-Francois Jacques (LW)
