by Edmonton Oilers Press Release / Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers have placed defenceman Dick Tarnstrom on the NHL Injured Reserve List and recalled forward Patrick Thoresen from the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.

Tarnstrom has missed the Oilers last three games (November 26-30) after suffering a concussion versus Colorado on November 24th. He has scored 1-4-5 with 22 penalty minutes in 20 games this season.

One of the offensive leaders for Springfield, Thoresen (5’11”, 188 pounds) has scored 12-8-20 with six penalty minutes and is +5 in 23 games for Edmonton’s AHL affiliate.

The 24-year-old left winger is among the AHL scoring leaders, sitting in 18th place in the league scoring race and his 12 goals are third. Thoresen leads Springfield with his 12 goals and also tops the Falcons with four powerplay goals and two shorthanded goals. He is second to Rob Schremp in points and is fourth in both assists and plus/minus.

Thoresen, a native of Oslo, Norway, became the fifth Norwegian to play in the NHL when he made his NHL debut with the Oilers in 2006-07. In 68 games with the Oilers last season, Thoresen scored 4-12-16 with 52 penalty minutes.
