Oilers prospect Caleb Jones led all Americans with 36:01 of icetime through four periods of hockey to help Team USA to a 5-4 shootout victory over Team Canada in Montreal on Thursday night, earning the Gold Medal for his country.
Jones had two penalty minutes and a minus-one rating plus one shot on goal while logging a considerable amount of ice.
Team USA fell behind early by a score of 2-0 but rallied to tie it up. Canada scored two quick goals early in the third to once again gain a two-goal advantage at 4-2 but it was quickly erased.
Throughout the tournament, Jones was +2 with two assists through seven games. He was second on the team with an average of 23:08 of icetime.
It was USA's first Gold Medal since 2013 and fourth overall. It was Canada's ninth Silver Medal.
