Oilers Octane perform on stage in Fort McMurray.
On Sunday, April 3 Fort McMurray’s premier recreation facility, the Community Leisure Centre, celebrated its first year anniversary on MacDonald Island and there to ring in the festivities were 10 members of the Oilers Octane.

The celebrations included a Community Spirit Pep Rally led by Bob Harper from NBC’s The Biggest Loser who rallied thousands of community members in a 5km workout challenge. The Octane performed a routine to kick off the challenge and were there to cheer and motivate the community members as they completed their challenge.

"Octane was the perfect fit for our community Big Spirit Pep rally, they brought the crowd to life, full of energy and spirit, and set the stage for an amazing work out with Bob Harper," said Tim Reid, Chief Operating Officer, MacDonald Island Park.

After the challenge was complete, the Octane had the opportunity to meet with members of the community, congratulate them on completing their challenge and sign autographs.

"The Oilers Octane feel very fortunate to partner up with Wood Buffalo's Big Spirit Pep Rally and help celebrate the first anniversary of this beautiful facility,” said Oilers Octane member Ashley. “The City has been incredibly inviting and we have been more than impressed with this event and the enthusiasm of the participants.  Thank you Fort McMurray and we hope to be back soon."

The Oilers Octane will be busy during the spring and summer at community events and activities across Oil Country. If you’re interested in having the Octane at your event, visit to submit your event details.
