(Edmonton, AB) – After a highly successful season that included on-ice performances, a sold-out calendar and a special performance with Wayne Gretzky at the Kinsmen Legends Experience, Oilers Octane will soon begin the process of selecting their squad for the 2012-13 season. Octane will be holding auditions May 25-27, 2012 and are inviting any interested female dancers, cheerleaders or promotional ambassadors from across Oil Country to attend the tryouts.
“In just two short seasons Oilers Octane have become a significant part of Oil Country, as they work to support charities and promote health and wellness in their own fun and entertaining way. Oilers fans of all ages love interacting with them at every event, banquet or festival they attend,” said Patrick LaForge, Oilers President. “However, during Oilers home games in particular, our fans have truly welcomed Octane as part of the Oilers family and look forward to their entertainment during games.”
An information session will be held at 7pm on Wednesday, May 16 at TELUS Field’s Home Plate Club. Anyone considering auditioning for the Octane or looking for more information regarding time commitment, dance requirements and promotional opportunities are encouraged to attend. An integral part of the Octane is giving back to the local communities that support the Edmonton Oilers and Octane through charity work and community appearances. Octane coaching staff will be on-hand to discuss charitable opportunities, provide information and answer any questions.
On May 23, an optional prep session will be held for anyone interested in receiving one-on-on feedback from the coaches. A dance, similar to the one that will be showcased on Friday, May 25, will also be taught, giving interested candidates the chance to evaluate their skill level and ease nerves moving into auditions.
Candidates attending the session on Friday, May 25 will have the opportunity to learn the dance and prepare for the first official day of auditions on May 26, both of which will be held at TELUS Field’s Home Plate Lounge. The first cuts will be made at the end of Saturday’s audition and one-on-one interviews will be held on May 27 at the Oilers Head Office. The final roster will be revealed at the Oilers Season Home Opener in the fall.
