Oilers Twitter followers and members of the Octane gather at the Oilers Octane Tweetup hosted by Boston Pizza.

On Wednesday, January 26, an overflow crowd over 200 Oilers Tweeps flocked to Boston Pizza on Jasper Avenue to take part in the first Oilers Octane Tweetup.  This exclusive event was presented by Boston Pizza and Molson Canadian and a key part of the evening was the successful launch of the Oilers Octane Twitter feed - @OilersOctane.

The event gave fans the chance to interact with the newest members of the Oilers family, while enjoying the Oilers game in Boston Pizza’s Lounge.  The Oilers tweeps feasted on complimentary pizza, appetizers, and Molson Canadians with props to Edmonton Oilers, Boston Pizza and Molson Canadian.

The Octane Tweetup also featured a series of Twitter-run contests where a few lucky tweeps took home prizes such as jerseys, signed merchandise, and Octane calendars.

“The first ever Octane Tweetup was a great way to launch our Twitter page and it was awesome to interact with Oilers fans,” said Oilers Octane member Kyla. “We hope more people across Oil Country will follow us on Twitter.”

The tweeps at the event agreed.

“It was a lot of fun, I had a great time,” said attendee Korrey McGilvray, “It was exciting meeting the Octane, they’re a wonderful energetic group and a great addition to the Oilers.”

In the second intermission the Oilers announced a new contest for all Oilers Octane Twitter followers.  To enter, fans just need to follow @OilersOctane and tweet “#IWantOctane because…” with their reason they want to meet the Octane.  One lucky winner will get four tickets to the February 15 game versus the Stars, a meet and greet with the Octane, and a backstage tour.
