by Edmonton Oilers Press Release / Edmonton Oilers

(Edmonton, AB) – The Edmonton Oilers and Cenovus are gearing up to hit the road once again for the 8th annual Oilers Hockey Clinic presented by Cenovus. This year’s clinic will head back east, returning to Cold Lake, Alberta.

Held at the Energy Centre from April 22 – 24, 2016, the clinic is free of charge to 100 lucky participants in the community and gives players aged seven to 13 the opportunity to experience high-calibre training while further developing their ice hockey and life skills.

“The Oilers are extremely proud to support grassroots programs in Oil Country that help develop our youth and improve the game of hockey,” said Bob Nicholson, CEO and Vice Chair of Oilers Entertainment Group. “Thanks to the wonderful partnership we have with Cenovus, the Edmonton Oilers are very excited to bring the Oilers Hockey Clinic back to Cold Lake.”

To jump-start the weekend, all Cold Lake and surrounding residents are invited to a complimentary Oilers Community Kick-Off presented by Cenovus and Boston Pizza held on the Friday night from 5:00 to 8:00pm MDT. Oilers Hockey Clinic participants will have the chance to register while the community enjoys complimentary food, a fun atmosphere and the presence of a current and alumni Edmonton Oilers player onsite to meet and mingle with guests. The Oilers Event Staff and Oilers Octane will also be on-hand with games, giveaways and unique trophies and collectables right from the Oilers Locker Room, including the Molson Cup.

“Cenovus is thrilled to partner with the Edmonton Oilers to bring the Hockey Clinic to Northern Alberta,” said Vicki Reid, Director, Community Affairs at Cenovus. “It’s through partnerships like this that we can bring these programs into our communities and give young hockey players a fun, unique experience to help further develop not only their hockey skills, but to also teach kids about healthy living in all aspect of life.”

The Edmonton Oilers Hockey Clinic will follow on Saturday and Sunday featuring multiple daily on-ice sessions, dryland training and nutrition clinics to help further the development of each participant. Oilers Hockey Operations staff and Oilers Hockey School instructors will be onsite to ensure the students have a great learning experience while having fun.

All players aged seven to 13 that are interested in participating, male or female, are invited to register by 5:00pm MDT by Friday, March 11, 2016. A random lottery will follow to determine the lucky participants.
