Edmonton, AB - Thousands of eager fans filled West Edmonton Mall today to meet the Oilers and get signatures from their favourite players. Lines that rivaled previous years snaked through the mall as hoards of fans mapped their way to secure as many signatures as possible.
“It's always fun interacting with fans and getting to meet them face-to-face,” said forward Mike Comrie. “Oilers fans are passionate and proud of their team and as a player you can’t ask for more.”
Fans traveled from all over Oil Country to meet the players and show their support; one family even made the 750km trip from Fort St John, BC to meet fan-favourite Sam Gagner
. Many Oilers supporters arrived at West Edmonton Mall as early 7:30am.
“We get here early in the morning and it’s a great day; all the fans get along so well, we share hockey stories and talk about our team,” said Oilers devotee Chris Alliston. “We’ve been diehard fans since we were little kids, they’re our team.”
The Oilers play their final game before the Olympic break tomorrow night versus the Anaheim Ducks at Rexall Place. The game will also be broadcast live on Molson Canadian Oilers Pay-Per-View. Limited seats remain available, visit edmontonoilers.com
