Boxing Day sized line-ups gathered at West Edmonton Mall today for the ATB Financial Oilers Autograph Session. Groups of eager fans mapped their way throughout West Edmonton Mall to meet their favourite Oilers and collect autographs. A record breaking number of Oil Country fans filled West Edmonton Mall, lining up as early as 7:00am for the mid-afternoon Autograph Session.
“The Autograph Session is a great opportunity for us to interact with our fans,” said Edmonton Oilers captain Ethan Moreau. “It’s always amazing to see so many passionate Oilers fans; that’s why they’re the best in the NHL.”
Other than collecting autographs, fans had many reasons for attending today. “I wanted to show my youngest grandson what it’s all about,” said Oilers Fan Bob Hall. “He’s a hockey nut like his granddad.”
The autograph session brought back some great memories for hometown Oiler defencemen Jason Strudwick, “It’s been quite a few years since I was here as a kid waiting in line with my dad for Gretzky and Messier’s signatures,” said Jason Strudwick. “It definitely makes it more special now as a player.”
The Edmonton Oilers next home game is Tuesday, February 24 at 7:00pm versus the Tampa Bay Lightning.
