Oilers assign Plante

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have assigned defenceman Alex Plante  to the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League.

Plante, 22, was recalled on Tuesday by Edmonton to play the Nashville Predators. In nine career NHL games with the Oilers he has two assists and 15 penalty minutes.
The 6’4”, 225-pound Brandon, Manitoba native has played in 17 games this season for the Barons recording five assists and 48 penalty minutes.

Plante was Edmonton's first round selection, 15th overall, at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
