Oilers assign Alex Giroux

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have assigned left-winger Alex Giroux to Oklahoma City of the American Hockey League.

Giroux, 29, has played in eight games this season with Edmonton recording a goal and an assist.  He had 29 goals and 38 assists for 67 points, as well as 59 penalty minutes in 63 games this season to lead the Barons at the time of his recall.

The 6’3”, 203-pound Quebec City native has played 39 games in the NHL collecting five goals and six assists for 11 points and 18 PIM.

He was signed as a free agent by Edmonton on July 3, 2010.
