The Edmonton Oilers have reduced their roster to 23 players in preparation for their season opener versus the San Jose Sharks on Thursday, October 4th at Rexall Place (7:00 p.m. face-off).
Three players were assigned to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League and two players were placed on the NHL Injured Reserve List. Sent to Edmonton’s AHL affiliate were defenceman Ladislav Smid
and forwards Zack Stortini (RW) and Patrick Thoresen (LW).
Mathieu Roy (D) and Tyler Spurgeon (C) were placed on the NHL Injured Reserve List.
The following players will be on the Oilers’ opening night roster for the start of Edmonton’s 28th NHL season:
