The Edmonton Oilers announced today, they have agreed to terms with defenceman Nikita Nikitin on a two-year contract.
Nikitin, 28, posted 15 points (2G, 13A) and 20 penalty minutes in 66 games last season with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He also appeared in five games for Columbus in the 2013-14 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The 6’4”, 223-pound defenceman has spent three seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets and two seasons with the St. Louis Blues, accumulating 65 points (13G, 52A) and 65 penalty minutes in 206 NHL games.
A native of Omsk, Russia, Nikitin has represented his country several times including, the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, the 2012 World Hockey Championship and 2006 World Junior Hockey Championship.
Nikitin was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the 5th round, 136th overall in the 2004 NHL Draft.
