Oilers Agree to Terms with Boyd Gordon

General Manager Craig MacTavish announced today the Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with right winger Boyd Gordon on a three year contract.

The 6’1”, 200-pound winger has spent the past two seasons with the Phoenix Coyotes, tallying 37 points (12G, 25A) and 18 penalty minutes in 123 games. He also registered two assists and six penalty minutes in 16 games with the Coyotes in the 2011-12 playoffs.

Gordon, 29, appeared in 48 games with the Coyotes in 2012-13, recording 14 points (4G, 10A) and eight penalty minutes.

The Unity, Saskatchewan native has played nine seasons in the NHL with the Washington Capitals and Phoenix Coyotes, accumulating 122 points (39G, 83A) and 100 penalty minutes in 486 career games.

Gordon spent time in American Hockey League over the course of four seasons with the Portland Pirates and the Hershey Bears, including winning the Calder Cup with the Hershey Bears in 2005-06.

Gordon was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the 1st round, 17th overall in the 2002 NHL Draft.
