The Edmonton Oilers announced today, they have acquired right winger Teddy Purcell from the Tampa Bay Lightning, in exchange for centre Sam Gagner.
Purcell, 28, appeared in 81 games for Tampa Bay last season, registering 42 points (12G, 30A) and 14 penalty minutes. He also posted one goal in four games during the 2013-14 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The St. John’s, Newfoundland native has spent time with the Los Angeles Kings and Tampa Bay Lightning. Purcell has accumulated 228 points (75G, 153A) and 66 penalty minutes in 401 career NHL games.
The 6’3”, 203-pound centre has recorded 18 points (7G, 11A) and two penalty minutes in 22 playoff games.
