Oilers acquire Strome

The Oilers have acquired Ryan Strome in a trade with the Islanders, in exchange for Jordan Eberle

The Edmonton Oilers have traded Jordan Eberle to the New York Islanders, in exchange for forward Ryan Strome.

Strome, 23, was the fifth-overall pick in the 2011 NHL Draft. The forward has split time between the Islanders and their AHL farm team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He has played in 258 NHL games, potting 45 goals and adding 81 assists for 126 points.

In 15 career playoff games for the Islanders, Strome has three goals and five assists.

Strome played his junior hockey in the OHL for the Niagra IceDogs. The Mississauga, ON native's brother Dylan Strome was selected third overall in 2015 by the Arizona Coyotes. His other brother Matthew is expected to be taken in one of the first few rounds of this year's draft, which takes place Friday and Saturday in Chicago.

Eberle finishes his Oilers career having played 507 games, scored 165 goals and 217 assists.
