(Edmonton, AB) – The Edmonton Oilers and Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF) today announced the team’s 50/50 program raised over $1.29 million for charitable organizations, minor hockey and ringette associations throughout Oil Country during the 2010-11 season. That’s in addition to paying out $1.29 million to lucky winners at Oilers hockey games.
“In communities and arenas across Northern Alberta you can see firsthand the impact our 50/50 program has made in helping to build and contribute to charities in our communities, in addition to the direct contribution we make annually to minor hockey and ringette associations. Gifting $1.29 million dollars back is significant,” said Natalie Minckler, Executive Director, EOCF. “The 50/50 program at Oilers home games provides a wonderful opportunity for groups to raise significant funds very efficiently.”
The Oilers also announced today that applications are now being accepted for the 50/50 program at 2011-12 Oilers home games. Minor hockey and ringette associations or registered charitable organizations in Northern Alberta are invited to submit their applications to be involved in the 50/50 program at one Oilers home game next season. Applicants will be required to provide a group of 62 volunteers over a five hour period on an assigned game night. All applications must be received by June 30, 2011.
