San Jose looked like world-beaters in the first two games against the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers then played the first period of Game 3 in Edmonton like their shirts were on fire, limiting San Jose to three shots but taking only a 1-0 lead. The Sharks tied the game 1:19 into the second period and went ahead at 9:30 of the middle period. The Oilers were out-shot, 8-3, in the second period and appeared to have fired their best shot.
