PRE-GAME REPORT

EDMONTON, AB --The Oilers Rookies get set for their second game of Rookie Camp with a Tuesday night match against the NAIT/MacEwan All-Stars.
In their opening game of Camp on Sunday, the prospects were defeated by the Calgary Flames Rookies 7-3. Evan Bouchard, Caleb Jones and Cooper Marody got Edmonton on the board, while Stuart Skinner and Dylan Wells split goaltending duties.
The Rookies are hoping to bounce back tonight in more ways than one; not only to rebound after Sunday's outing but also to get payback against the NAIT/MacEwan All-Stars, who blanked the Orange & Blue 2-0 in 2017 despite Edmonton peppering their opposition with 49 shots.

PRE-RAW | Colin Larkin

"They scored pretty early if I'm not mistaken," recalled Jones, who also picked up a helper on Sunday. "I remember kind of dominating the game and getting a lot of scoring chances but we couldn't score. Then they switched goalies and we were like, 'OK, we got the hot guy out.'"
Jones was referring to NAIT-MacEwan All-Stars goaltenders Marc-Olivier Daigle and Nathan Park, who both manned the twine for the collegiate squad. Daigle started in between the pipes then Park finished the game.
"He (Park) came in and was even better," Jones said, noting the visiting team as a whole had a strong outing. "They played hard. They were blocking shots and played a good systems game."
Jones attributes last year's loss to the Oilers not playing cohesively.
"I think last year we were trying to beat guys 1-on-1 a lot," he added. "Our forwards and our D were doing too much."
BRAGGING RIGHTS
The skaters who weren't part of the last match were informed of the result. One of those is forward Colin Larkin.
"I heard they won last year," the Waterford, MI, product said. "Some of the local guys had friends on the other team and they had bragging rights for a year. The guys were actually a little frustrated about it.
"We definitely don't want that to happen this year."
While Larkin didn't experience the disappointment his teammates did, the 6-foot-2, 197-pounder simply wants to put his individual and team performance on display.
"It's an opportunity for us to show well and play hard," he said. "It's a hockey game, so it's all between the boards for 60 minutes."

PRE-RAW | Olivier Rodrigue

TAKE A STEP
Bakersfield Condors Head Coach Jay Woodcroft isn't looking back at the past ahead of Tuesday's tilt. Rather, the bench boss wants his club to focus on playing as a unit in an effort to "take a step ahead."
"For us, our focus is not so much on the other team or what's happened in the past," he said. "It's about our group having that mindset to take a step today. We're going to take a step by playing together. Making sure we stick together in all situations and play a connected game out there."
Woodcroft expects the All-Stars to come out hard.
"We know that this team we're going to play tonight is full of really good college players and that this is an important game in their season and their personal career," he said.
"They're going to want to show well."
LINEUP NOTES
William Lagesson is expected to draw into the Oilers Rookies lineup, while Ethan Bear gets the night off.
Wells is expected to play the first two periods and Olivier Rodrigue will close out the third.
Line combinations will be made apparent at warmups.

PRE-RAW | Kailer Yamamoto
