PRE-GAME REPORT

DETROIT, MI - The Oilers are in the Motor City for a drive with the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.
Edmonton's opponents have been cruising of late, currently riding a three-game win streak and going 3-2-0 in their last five after beginning the season 0-5-2.
Many of the club's veteran defenders were sidelined early in the year. Mike Green was plagued with a virus, Niklas Kronwall was sidelined due to a lower-body issue, Trevor Daley had an upper-body injury and Jonathan Ericsson remains day-to-day. Green, Kronwall and Daley are expected to be in the lineup, while Ericsson will likely be out.
"I can only imagine what our team would look like without (Adam) Larsson, (Oscar) Klefbom, (Darnell) Nurse and (Kris) Russell in the lineup," Oilers Head Coach Todd McLellan said. "Detroit's had to fight through that. They're much more of the team that has played over the last seven to 10 days than they were at the beginning of the year."
Regardless of Detroit's blueline situation, the Oilers will look to keep their foot on the gas pedal after shutting out the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday and concluding October with a 6-4-1 record.
"Our group has to understand that it's not an easy place to play," McLellan added. "They (Detroit) are playing with some renewed confidence."
KOSKIN-IN
Keeper Mikko Koskinen will get his second consecutive appearance for the Oilers after his 40-stop performance against the Blackhawks on Thursday. The guardian is 2-0-0 this year, posting a 1.51 goals-against average and .955 save percentage in victories over the Nashville Predators and aforementioned Hawks.
"He earned that opportunity and that privilege, and we have a lot of confidence in him right now," said McLellan.
What started out as a shaky pre-season has turned into a show-stopping spectacle, with the 'tender's penchant for tapping his goalpost as attackers cross the blueline becoming routine. Another feature of Koskinen's game is his activity in the crease. The Vantaa, Finland, native isn't afraid to play the puck or help out his Dmen.
"For me as a defenceman, it's very nice to be out there and have so much confidence in your goalie," said Oscar Klefbom. "I think it's well-deserved."
Klefbom and his defensive partners want to see the 6-foot-7 netminder continue his hot start.
"He's been very good for us. I'm very happy for him and hopefully he can play a solid game tonight too," he said.
SWEDISH CONNECTIONS
Detroit's history with Swedes is well-known, from when Tomas Holmstrom would park his square shoulders in front of every crease to the long-tenured defending of Erik Lidstrom. Now, four players on Detroit's roster hail from the European country: Ericsson, Kronwall, Jacob De La Rose and Gustav Nyquist.
But for Klefbom, Kronwall is a favourite - just as long as the Oilers defender isn't the one being 'Kronwalled.'
"He was a big idol for me growing up," Klefbom said. "He's been in the League for many, many, many years now and I'm very impressed by how he took care of his body and the professionalism he had.
"I think he had a great career and still is a really good defenceman."
The Red Wings were also formerly captained by Henrik Zetterberg, who retired at the beginning of this season. The Njurunda, Sweden, product is out of the picture but Detroit's roster remains a six-cylinder engine featuring pistons such as Dylan Larkin, Anthony Mantha, Andreas Athanasiou and Gustav Nyquist.
"Zetterberg, the last couple of years, was probably not the fastest guy on the ice but he controlled the game so good," said Klefbom. "He had that Swedish mindset. He was so smart on the ice and he could find those Sedin-like plays. Even if the pace was higher, he could control the game in a different way."
Nowadays, Larkin is revving the engine for the Wings, leading the way with 14 points while Nyquist trails him with 10.
"We have to be ready for the other guys," continued Klefbom. "They have some skilled guys out there and the defencemen have to be ready for that speed."
It should be noted that up front, Athanasiou and Thomas Vanek will be out on Saturday.
LINEUP NOTES
McLellan is doling out the exact same roster that won on Thursday. That means Drake Caggiula will remain on the top line with Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
"The group deserves to play again and they'll play," said McLellan.
Ty Rattie was activated on Friday but won't see game action quite yet. The bench boss was asked what that could mean to the complexion of his lineup moving forward.
"We'll evaluate the team as we go forth," said the Oilers coach. "Ty Rattie fits that spot (first line) really well; he's played well with them but there's ebbs and flows and changes that happen throughout a season."
Lines at morning skate appeared to be:
Nugent-Hopkins - McDavid - Caggiula
Rieder - Draisaitl - Chiasson
Lucic - Strome - Puljujarvi
Khaira - Brodziak - Kassian
Klefbom - Larsson
Nurse - Russell
Garrison - Benning
Koskinen
Talbot
Jonathan Bernier is expected to get the nod in net for Detroit.
