"The best offensive teams, even in the history, and we had many of them here in Edmonton, I'm sure there was times when they went dry," he said. "Sometimes it's not clicking for you but fortunately for us, the last five periods we've been able to find goals. We've scored in and around the blue paint which is something we weren't doing in prior games, so those are all real good signs. We just got to keep it going. We talk a little bit more this time of the year about scoring those playoff-type goals, they're not going to pretty, they're not going to be highlight-reel goals but there will be a lot of work and grinding that goes into it."
McLellan said that it was just about reminding his players what they had to do to find success in the offensive zone.
"We're human beings and sometimes we get away from the hard stuff and we like shortcuts, doesn't matter if you're a hockey player or doing anything else in life. So, we reminded the players, we showed them where they've been shooting from and where their second chances are coming from individually and collectively and they've obviously paid attention and put it into play. Once they get away from it again we'll have to remind them again."
