On Friday, Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel made a proclamation in support of the Oilers' current Cup run. He encouraged Edmontonians and Oilers fans everywhere to wear their Oilers jerseys to work.
WHEREAS, there are signs of Oilers pride eveywhere in our Capital City as our hometown team marches closer toward Lord Stanley's Cup;
AND WHEREAS, the citizens of Edmonton have shown their passion for our team by decorating their cars and homes in the Oilers copper and blue motif;
AND WHEREAS, our local fans will continue to root hard for our high-flying, five-time Stanley Cup champions;
THEREFORE I, MAYOR STEPHEN MANDEL, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM THAT FOR EVERY OILERS HOME GAME THROUGH TO THE END OF THE PLAYOFFS EDMONTONIANS, AND OILERS FANS EVERYWHERE, SHOULD WEAR THEIR OILERS JERSEYS TO WORK.
