Edmonton Oilers goaltender Mathieu Garon has been named the second star in the NHLss weekly "Three Stars" program for the week ending January 13th.
Garon posted a 3-0-0 record with a 1.01 goals-against average and a .968 save percentage in helping the Oilers to three consecutive victories.
Garon began the week by turning aside all 35 shots he faced in registering his third shutout of the season as the Oilers defeated the New York Islanders 4-0 on January 7th at Rexall Place. He then made 29 saves in a 5-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on January 10th and rounded out the week by stopping 27 of 28 shots fired his way in a 2-1 victory over the Calgary Flames on January 13th.
Garon has started the last six games for the Oilers, compiling a 5-1-0 record from January 2nd to 13th. He currently has a season-high four-game winning streak in progress with a 4-0-0 record from January 5th to 13th. During his last six games, Garon has a 1.95 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage.
