LOWDOWN: Oilers opt for the best defenceman in the draft. Murray can control the game and gives Edmonton an outstanding puck moving D with which to move forward.

Columbus Blue Jackets
Morgan Rielly, D, Moose Jaw (WHL)
LOWDOWN: Blue Jackets take a gamble on the blueliner. Injured most of the season, Rielly showed in the playoffs that he's only going to get better and could emerge as the top defenceman in the draft down the road.

Montreal Canadiens
Nail Yakupov, RW, Sarnia (OHL)
LOWDOWN: Habs thrilled to have the dynamic Yakupov fall to their position. 31 goals and 69 points in only 42 games. 

New York Islanders
Griffin Reinhart, D, Edmonton (WHL)
LOWDOWN: Oil Kings blueliner gets scooped by the Isles. Big, two-way defender improved throughout the past season in helping lead the Oil Kings to the Memorial Cup. .

Toronto Maple Leafs
Alex Galchenyuk, C, Sarnia (OHL)
LOWDOWN: Injured for all but two regular season games, Leafs opt for the 6'1" centre. 31 goals and 83 points as a 16-year-old shows that this kid has some offensive talent. 

Anaheim Ducks
Teuvo Teravainen, LW, Jokerit (FIN)
LOWDOWN: Flashy Finn with 18 points in 40 games for Jokerit (and 20 points in 11 games with Jokerit Juniors) goes to the club with some history with Finland.

7 Minnesota Wild Filip Forsberg, RW, Leksand (SWE)
LOWDOWN: Wild can't pass up Forsberg, slated to be an oustanding two-way forward. A safe pick with some offensive upside.

Carolina Hurricanes
Mathew Dumba, D, Red Deer (WHL)
LOWDOWN: Mat Dumba put up big numbers last year with the Rebels. 20 goals, 57 points.

9 Winnipeg Jets Cody Ceci, D, Ottawa (OHL)
LOWDOWN: Jets opt for Ceci, a defenceman with some size and a strong offensive side to his game. 60 points in 64 games played with 17 goals.

10 Tampa Bay Lightning Radek Faksa, C, Kitchener (OHL)
LOWDOWN: Big Czech centre had an outstanding rookie campaign with Kitchener, scoring 29 goals with 69 points in 62 games

Washington Capitals (via COL)
Mikhail Grigorenko, C, Quebec (QMJHL)
LOWDOWN: Grigorenko slips to the 11 spot. With 85 points in 59 games last year for Quebec, the Caps gladly take him here

Buffalo Sabres
Jacob Trouba, D, USNTDP (USHL
LOWDOWN: Sabres take 6'2" defensive defender Jacob Trouba, who also shows an offensive side to his game at times.

Dallas Stars
Olli Maatta, D, London (OHL)
LOWDOWN: Finnish defenceman on the London Knights moves the puck well and can play a shutdown role too.

Calgary Flames
Derrick Pouliot, D, Portland (WHL)
LOWDOWN: Offensive flair to the Weyburn, Saskatchewan native's game with 59 points in 72 games.  

Ottawa Senators
Sebastian Collberg, RW, Frolunda (SWE)
LOWDOWN: Had an outstanding World Junior Championships with the Gold Medal winning Swedes. Great shot and solid offensive player.

Washington Capitals
Brendan Gaunce, C, Belleville (OHL)
LOWDOWN: Centre with size could be a steal in the middle of the first round.

San Jose Sharks
Stefan Matteau, LW, USNTDP (USHL)
LOWDOWN: Sharks take Stefan Matteau, son of former Shark Stephane Matteau. Plays more of a power game than his dad but remains responsible in his own end.

Chicago Blackhawks
Matthew Finn, D, Guelph (OHL)
LOWDOWN: Puts up points and defends well. Led Guelph team in a lot of ways. 47 points in 61 games.

19 Tampa Bay Lightning (via DET) Andrei Vasilevski, G, Ufa Tolpar (RUS-JR)
LOWDOWN: Lightning take first goaltender of the draft. .953 save percentage at the World Juniors says he's on the road to becoming an impact netminder.

Philadephia Flyers
Hampus Lindholm, D, Rogle (SWE)
LOWDOWN: Finished the season with Rogle of Swedish first division and played a big role in team's promotion to Elite League for next season. 6'3" defender continually improved throughout the year. 

Buffalo Sabres (via NSH)
Thomas Wilson, RW, Plymouth (OHL)
LOWDOWN: Toronto native stays close to home, selected by the Sabres. Plays a very tough, physical game and at 6'4" can back it up.

Pittsburgh Penguins
Malcom Subban, G, Belleville (OHL)
LOWDOWN: Brother of Montreal defenceman P.K. Subban is the best goaltender in teh draft, according to many. Is likely to find himself taken at some point in the opening round.

Florida Panthers
Zemgus Girgensons, C, Dubuque (USHL)
LOWDOWN: Latvian played in the USHL this past season, putting up nearly a point per game. Committed to University of Vermont but Kelowna (WHL) is making a play for his services.

Boston Bruins
Slater Koekkoek, D, Peterborough (OHL)
LOWDOWN: 6'2" two-way defender was injured for a chunk of the season but played well when healthy. 18 points in 26 games.

25 St. Louis Blues Mike Winther, C, Prince Albert (WHL)
LOWDOWN: Trochu, Alberta native shows a supreme amount of skill at times and has drawn comparison to Claude Giroux.

Vancouver Canucks
Ludvig Bystrom, D, Modo (SWE)
LOWDOWN: Canucks look to bolster their blueline with two-way defenceman Bystrom. Good defensively with some offensive upside.

Phoenix Coyotes
Ville Pokka, D, Karpat (FIN)
LOWDOWN: Strong showing in the World Juniors, played well in the Finnish League. Also has strong offensive upside.

28 New York Rangers Phillip Di Giuseppe, LW, Michigan (CCHA)
LOWDOWN: Strong freshman season with Michigan. 11 goals and 26 points in 40 GP.

29 New Jersey Devils Oscar Dansk, G, Brynas (SWE)
LOWDOWN: Devils show why they kept their pick, going off the board to take the Swedish netminder.

30 Los Angeles Kings Henrik Samuelsson, C, Edmonton (WHL)
LOWDOWN: Edmonton Oil Kings pivot and son of former NHLer Ulf Samuelsson sneaks into the first round.
