FIRST PERIOD

20:00: Tonight's game is now underway.

15:50: Shots on goal just over four minutes into the game were 3-1 for Edmonton.

13:02: Buffalo got on the board first on a backhand by Jack Eichel from the slot. | BUF 1, EDM 0

10:39: Shots are now even at 4-4.

10:24: On a delayed penalty, Hall spun at the blueline while being hooked and threw the puck on net. It found its way past a screened Chad Johnson in goal after being redirected by Teddy Purcell to tie the game. | EDM 1, BUF 1

8:14: Shots on goal are now 6-4 for Edmonton.

7:57: Tempers flare on both sides after the whistle with some pushing and shoving in the corner of the Oilers zone. The result was offsetting minors to Matt Hendricks and Zemgus Girgensons for roughing, setting up four-on-four play for the next two minutes.

5:00: Hall has the puck alone in front of the net but with Johnson challening him, he elects to try and pass the puck over to Purcell but the feed doesn't quite connect and Oilers end up missing an opportunity to move into the lead.

3:54: Oilers finally do take the lead when some great work behind the net by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins results in him taking posession of the puck. He then spots Jordan Eberle in front who makes no mistake, rifling it glove side past Johnson to make it 2-1. | EDM 2, BUF 1

1:21: Buffalo's Josh Gorges takes an intereference penalty, giving the Oilers their first power play of the game.

1:05: Hall pounces on a loose puck in the crease and pounds it past Johnson, resulting in a two-goal lead for Edmonton after scoring only 16 seconds into the man advantage. | EDM 3, BUF 1

0.0: Shots on goal after one period were 9-7 for Edmonton.
SECOND PERIOD

20:00: The second period is now underway.

17:40: Nugent-Hopkins receives two minutes for high sticking, sending Buffalo to the power play.

13:22: Shots are now 16-11 for the Oilers.

12:23: Edmonton heads back to the penalty box. This time, Brandon Davidson for tripping.

8:30: The penalty parade continues for the Oilers. Eric Gryba goes to the box for interference to give the Sabres their third man advantage of the period.

7:30: While shorthanded, the Oilers had a two-on-one which ended with the puck on Anton Lander's stick driving the Sabres net. Lander's backhanded attempt went high of the net.

6:38: Buffalo finally converts on the power play. Ryan O'Reilly's goal makes it a one-goal game. | EDM 3, BUF 2

4:30: With time winding down in the second period, shots on goal are 19-17 for the Oilers.

2:17: During a wild scramble in front, Luke Gazdic puts the puck past Johnson. The play goes to review to see if there's a kicking motion. It's determined that there is no distinct kicking motion and it's a good goal. However, the Sabres then elect to do a coach's challenge to see if there was goaltender interference.

2:17: It was then ruled that there was no goaltender interference. Oilers up 4-2... finally! | EDM 4, BUF 2

0.0: Shots after 40 minutes are 22-18 for the Oilers.

THIRD PERIOD

20:00: The third period is now underway.

15:50: Shots are 24-23 in the period just past the four-minute mark.

14:53: Taylor Hall received two minutes for boarding after shoving Sam Reinhart into the boards from the corner of his own zone.

12:53: Sabres rattle off five shots on the power play but can't beat Nilsson. Shots are now 28-24 Sabres.

9:33: Shots are 29-25 just past the midway point of period three.

8:15: Evander Kane and Taylor Hall do some jawing back and forth after Kane levelled Andrej Sekera. Result is four-on-four hockey as the two head off for unsportsmanlike conduct.

2:50: Shots are 30-26 for the Sabres with time ticking off the clock.

1:29: Sabres pull Johnson for the extra attacker.

0.0: Shots finished 34-28 for Buffalo but Oilers ended up on top.
