FIRST PERIOD

20:00: Tonight's game is now underway.

14:09: Almost six minutes in, Oilers have a 4-1 edge in shots.

13:24: Michael Del Zotto gets a hooking penalty, sending the Oilers on the power play for the first time on the evening.

10:55: Flyers kill off the penalty but Oilers had plenty of chances. Shots are now 11-1 for Edmonton.

9:37: Flyers netminder Michal Neuvirth makes a nice glove save off Benoit Pouliot to keep the game scoreless. Shots are 12-1 Oilers. 4:52: Flyers get their second shot on net; Oilers outshooting the Flyers 13-2.

2:17: Taylor Hall gets high-sticked by Brandon Manning during a delayed penalty -- interference, also by Manning. Result is a four-minute Oilers power play.

3.2: Draisaitl hit the post on a cross-crease pass from Hall but on the rebound, Nugent-Hopkins gave a second effort and it was enough to get the puck just barely inside the post. | EDM 1, PHI 0

0.0: Shots after one period were 19-2 for Edmonton.

SECOND PERIOD

20:00: Period two has begun.

19:26: Only 34 seconds into the second period, the Flyers got on the board. Scott Laughton's rebound attempt from the side of the net finds its way past Anders Nilsson on the short side. | EDM 1, PHI 1

19:00: After only registering two shots in the entire first period, Flyers rattle off five shots in the first minute of the middle frame.

13:57: Teddy Purcell got in behind the Flyers defence and grabbed a loose puck in the neutral zone, breaking in all alone. His shot was gloved by Neuvirth.

9:17: Shots are 29-13 Oilers just past the game's midpoint.

7:01: Ryan White's blast from the top of the right face-off circle went off the blocker of Nilsson but its momentum carried the puck forward across the goal line, sending the Flyers in front for the first time. | PHI 2, EDM 1

6:49: Taylor Hall's penalty for holding the stick puts Philly on the power play for the first time.

5:17: McDavid carried the puck into the Flyers zone while shorthanded and got the puck on net. It was covered by Neuvirth then carried outside the crease. McDavid waited for the Flyers netminder to release the puck and he didn't, resulting in a two-minute penalty to Neuvirth for delay of game. Oilers would go on the PP for 1:32.

3:10: Draisaitl slashed the stick out of the hands of a Flyers player just as the penalty expired, sending the Flyers back on the man advantage.

1:42: McDavid crashes into the boards heavily after rushing the puck up ice and skates gingerly to the bench afterwards.

0.0: Shots in the second were 17-13 for the Oilers; 36-15 Edmonton overall in the game after 40 minutes.
THIRD PERIOD
20:00: Period three starts now. Oilers announce that McDavid will not return to the game tonight.

18:36: Radko Gudas receives a slashing penalty, giving the Oilers a chance to get back on even terms on the power play.

14:01: Several minutes after Philadelphia killed off the penalty, Neuvirth makes a big save on Draisaitl's one-timer from the slot to keep the Flyers in the lead.

13:47: 14 seconds later, Matt Hendricks scores on the team's 41st shot of the game. Hendricks jumps on the puck after it bounces off the end boards and deposits it into the open side of the net. | EDM 2, PHI 2

12:20: The Oilers strike again 1:27 later. Hall's backhand on the rush somehow finds its way into the back of the net. | EDM 3, PHI 2

9:03: Shots are now 43-17 Oilers with less than 10 minutes to go in the third period.

4:13: Hall is denied on a breakaway, firing a shot blocker side on Neuvirth that is steered away.

1:32: Shots are 47-21 for Edmonton.

42.7: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scores an empty-net goal to clinch it for the Oilers. | EDM 4, PHI 2
