FIRST PERIOD

20:00: Tonight's game is now underway.

18:31: Connor McDavid made a nice play to kick the puck up to his stick before backhanding the puck on net. Taylor Hall swooped in to pick up the rebound and backhanded it in to give the Oilers an early lead. | EDM 1, VAN 0

18:08: That lead was shortlived as Bo Horvat took advantage of a centring pass from Jake Virtainen at the top of the crease and quickly tapped it in past Cam Talbot to get Vancouver back on even terms. | EDM 1, VAN 1

16:30: Shot count three-and-a-half minutes into the game were 2-2.

10:44: Brandon Prust received two minutes for holding to give the Oilers the game's first power play.

8:13: Vancouver moved in front when Alex Edler's shot from the point slipped past a screened Talbot to make it a 2-1 game. | VAN 2, EDM 1

4:26: Shots are 6-4 Oilers as the first period inches towards conclusion. 42.0: Nailed it! Nail Yakupov wired a shot from the left circle that beat Jacob Markstrom glove side to get the game tied up once again. Andrej Sekera and Justin Schultz got the assists. | EDM 2, VAN 2

0.0: At the buzzer, the Oilers received a penalty -- Connor McDavid for hooking. Vancouver will start the second on the power play. Final shot count in period one was 7-5 for Edmonton.

SECOND PERIOD

20:00: Period two starts now. The Canucks will open the period with their first power play of the game.

19:36: 24 seconds into the period and power play, Sekera blindly backhanded the puck into the slot where it was wired by Yannick Weber top corner to put the Canucks back in the lead. | VAN 3, EDM 2

17:35: Jared McCann's shot from the right circle rang off the post behind Talbot.

14:38: Shots are 14-9 Canucks just past the five-minute mark of period two (9-2 Vancouver within the period).

7:44: After a flurry of shots in the opening five minutes of the period, the next seven only saw one shot on goal and that was by Edmonton.

7:34: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins absolutely crushed Weber in the corner of the Canucks zone, sending the Vancouver defenceman spiralling to the ice. 7:11: Jake Virtanen received two minutes for hooking Justin Schultz to get the Oilers power play unit back on the ice. 5:58: Nugent-Hopkins took an interference penalty with 48 seconds left in the Virtanen minor, setting up four-on-four action.

4:36: Vancouver strikes again to double their lead. On the play, Virtanen suffers an injury (the puck hit his face and went into the net) and has to be helped off the ice. | VAN 4, EDM 2

33.1: Oilers go on the attack and have a flurry of chances, the best coming at the doorstep of the net as McDavid tries to flip the puck in on the short side.

0.0: Shots after 40 minutes are 20-17 for Vancouver.

THIRD PERIOD

20:00: The third period is now underway.

19:06: Bo Horvat got in behind the Oilers defence and fired a shot glove side to increase Vancouver's lead. It was Horvat's second of the game. | VAN 5, EDM 2

14:25: Shots are 25-21 Vancouver.

10:24: Anton Lander took a penalty for holding, putting Vancouver on the power play for the fourth time tonight (they're 2/3).

3:51: Shots are now 27-21 Canucks with time winding down.

1:31: Matt Hendricks dropped the gloves for a quick but spirited bout with Derek Dorsett. Five minute majors for each.

0.0: That's a wrap. Final shot count: 29-23 for the visitors.
