The celebrations at Rogers Place on Opening Night accentuated an exciting 3-0 Oilers win

No, we aren't talking about a Phil Collins song - although, Kailer Yamamoto might say he's been waiting for this moment for all his life.

We are talking about the night Edmontonians have been waiting for since May.

Home Opener Surprise Guest

Those in attendance at Wednesday night's Home Opener were treated to a very special guest ahead of puck drop.

For those in attendance at Wednesday night's Home Opener, waiting to watch the first Battle of Alberta of the second season inside Rogers Place, they were treated to a very special guest ahead of puck drop.

The winning contestant from this summer's season of Britain's Got Talent, Tokio Myers, was among the spectacular pre-game show that amazed fans. Performing on a raised platform alongside the Edmonton Choir, Myers sent chills down the spines of every fan as he played the piano accompanied by trigger pads.

The EOCF Share A Book program helps spread the joys of reading to Grade 1 students

This was the key message from Puckster's First Hockey Game - a children's novel written by Lorna Schultz Nicholson.

As one of eight books in the Puckster series, Nicholson read Puckster's First Hockey Game to an eager room full of Grade 1 students from Princeton Elementary School on Tuesday, March 21.

Mystery pucks for mental health

The Oilers held their fifth annual Hockey Talks game night on Friday, raising funds and awareness for mental health

 In a collaborative effort with all Canadian National Hockey League (NHL) teams, the Edmonton Oilers hosted their fifth annual Hockey Talks game night on March 10 - helping to bring awareness and raise funds to support mental health services.

"The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF) is especially thrilled to support mental health initiatives for youth in Oil Country," said EOCF Executive Director Natalie Minckler. "It's important to our Foundation that we facilitate a conversation and make a real impact by helping break down common misconceptions and stigma associated with mental health."

Just like a neuron sending and receiving information throughout our body while calculating a response, the Event Command Centre is the cell that keeps Rogers Place pulsating. At only 120 square feet, this small space overlooks the bowl, with the ability to see every nook and cranny of the building - thanks in large part to closed-circuit television (CCTV).

Wish upon a hockey star

Seven-year-old Markus receives his dream wish; skating alongside the Edmonton Oilers.

Fist-bumping each player as they stepped out onto the ice, seven-year-old Markus Auger was finally getting to experience a wish he had long been dreaming of.

Eric Gryba shaved his beard in an effort to raise support and awareness towards Garth Brooks' Teammates for Kids Foundation.

Streaming live from the Oilers Hall of Fame room at Rogers Place on Wednesday, February 15, thousands of viewers watched as Eric Gryba said goodbye to his beloved beard.

"That's a lot of hair!" said the six-foot-four Oilers defenceman, looking at the newly shaved hair that surrounded his chair.

"Cookies, cookies!" a small voice echoed with delight inside the Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern Alberta (RMHCNA) in Edmonton on Monday afternoon.

Having just returned from the Stollery Children's Hospital that morning, 3-year-old Aubrey raced into the RMHCNA dining area, where she was met by a table of heart-shaped cookies to decorate with some very special guests.
