Then Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation donated a record $50,000 to the Winnifred Stewart Association as a result of Sunday’s Joey Moss Cup game at Rexall Place. The Joey Moss Cup is the Oilers annual intra-squad game and a highlight of the Club’s ATCO Training Camp.
“Over 6,000 Oilers fans contributed to our donation today,” said Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation Executive Director Natalie Minckler. “Proceeds from both ticket sales and Chuck-A-Puck sales allowed us to double the size of our donation from last year’s event.
The Winnifred Stewart Association’s contributions to our community are very close to our heart, and we are pleased to join with our fans to provide this level of support.”
The Winnifred Stewart Association is an innovator in working with adults with developmental disabilities. Over the course of their adult lives, their clients and their families benefit from customized programs designed to meet the diverse and changing needs of people with developmental disabilities.
The Joey Moss Cup, which was won by Team Blue by a score of 6-2, featured both an anthem performance and trophy presentation by Oilers Dressing Room Assistant Joey Moss.
The Oilers return to action Monday night at 7:00 at Rexall Place when they host the Vancouver Canucks in their first game of the 2008 pre-season. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at edmontonoilers.com, or by calling 780-414-GOAL (4625).
The Edmonton Oilers 30th Anniversary Season is presented in part by the Rexall Family of Pharmacies, Bell, Molson, ATB Financial and Ford.
