Oilers head coach Todd McLellan was asked after Saturday's game about the rumours of Paul Coffey rejoining the Oilers organization.
"We'll have an official announcement (Sunday) but it's not a very well-kept secret, Paul will be joining our organization," McLellan began. "In my mind, he's been part of our organization since he played here. He's been around and been very supportive. He'll be joining in more of an official capacity."
Coffey was officially announced as the Oilers Skills Development Coach on Sunday morning.
"Peter and I have been talking about bringing a guy in who can help not only us here but throughout the whole organization - the players in Bakersfield plus some of our junior prospects - with skill development, in particular on the back-end," McLellan continued. "We've got three valuable prospects in Bakersfield, we've got a young set of defencemen here who can use another set of eyes and we don't have any problem picking his brain as a coaching staff as well.
"You'll see him around here, you'll see him in Bakersfield, you may see him around some of the junior teams with some of the kids."
Coffey is expected to address the media on Sunday.
