20:00: The puck has dropped to start the opening period.

13:28: Through the first six minutes, the only two shots on goal were by Minnesota.

11:50: Theo Peckham, from the point, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, from the slot, have Edmonton's two best scoring chances of the game.

5:00: Oilers pick up momentum in the game, shots on goal are now 5-2 for Edmonton.
So...not much going on here. RNH has misfired on a couple of point blank chances. That's about it.
1:04: Dany Heatley one-times a shot from the top of the crease and it rings off the post behind Dubnyk and out of harm's way in what was Minnesota's best chance of the period.

0:00: Shots on goal after one are 8-3 in favour of the Oilers.

Minnesota had only one shot on goal in the final 14 minutes of the period.

20:00: The second period is now underway.

13:59: Hemsky and Yakupov skated in on a two-on-one. Yakupov threaded the puck over to Hemsky who didn't get as much on the puck as he wanted. Backstrom was able to slide across and make the stop.

13:38: Cal Clutterbuck blocks a shot and limps to the bench for treatment afterwards.

13:15: Ladislav Smid gets physical with Dany Heatley and receives two minutes as a result. Minnesota goes on the first power play of the game.

11:58: Heatley gets a goaltender interference penalty with Minnesota buzzing around the net on their man advantage.

7:34: Ryan Smyth picks up the puck behind the net and wraps it around and in for his second goal of the season, putting the Oilers on the board. | EDM 1, MIN 0
Was that Ryan Smyth wrapping a goal? Or, like Star Wars, a hologram of 1997 Smytty doing same?                                                                                                               @SportsnetSpec
Kudos to all the fans in the Gallery who sang Happy Birthday after Smyth's goal. #94 turned 37 today. Great way to celebrate.                                                            @ryandittrick
4:58: Matt Cullen makes a nifty move, backhanding it in-close five-hole past Dubnyk to tie the game up. | EDM 1, MIN 1

0:00: Shots on goal after two periods are 19 to 18 for Minnesota.

In his first game of the season, Theo Peckham is fourth on the team in icetime at 13:12.

20:00: The third period is now underway.

17:40: Devin Setoguchi takes a feed in the slot and slips it just inside the right post to give Minnesota the lead. | MIN 2, EDM 1

Theo Peckham takes a hooking penalty to put the Wild back on the man advantage.
Krueger comes out of the TV timeout with Hemsky on a line with Hall and RNH. Paajarvi with Gagner and Eberle now...shaking it up.                                                            @dantencer
10:24: Gagner is sprung all alone on a breakaway and makes a deke but just misses the net on his chance.

6:02: Matt Cullen fires a wrist shot from the circle past Dubnyk to give the Wild a two-goal lead. | MIN 3, EDM 1

Taylor Hall collides with Cal Clutterbuck in a knee-on-knee collision resulting in a major penalty and a game misconduct to the Oilers winger.

0:00: Oilers lose 3-1 to the Wild. Shots on net were even at 28.
