The Edmonton Oilers take on the Dallas Stars for the second time this season. We'll be updating the action from the game as it happens. We'll also be adding photos, videos from big plays and more throughout the game.

The Oilers have made a few changes to their lineup since this weekend. Chris VandeVelde was recalled today and will centre the fourth line with Ben Eager and Lennart Petrell. Ryan Smyth and Ryan Whitney will both be healthy scratches. Mark Fistric draws in to play his former team for the first time.

Line Combinations (and defence pairings) for the Oilers:

Hall - Nugent-Hopkins - Eberle
Yakupov - Gagner - Hemsky
Hartikainen - Belanger - Paajarvi
Eager - VandeVelde - Petrell

N.Schultz - J.Schultz
Smid - Potter
Fistric - Petry

20:00: The puck has dropped for tonight's game.

18:09: Cody Eakin gets in behind the Oilers defence and breaks in all alone. Devan Dubnyk makes a save on the breakaway.

15:52: Michael Ryder sits in the box as Dallas has too many men on the ice. The Edmonton power play is the first of the night for either side.

12:31: Yakupov takes a cross-checking penalty on Stars captain Brenden Morrow.

11:44: Dubnyk kicks out his right pad to deny Ryder on a backhand attempt on goal from the top of the crease.

7:01: Taylor Hall blazes down the ice through the neutral zone then cuts wide and fires it past Lehtonen to open the scoring. | EDM 1, DAL 0

4:57: Nugent-Hopkins takes a high sticking penalty and Aaron Rome goes off for interference to set up a four-on-four situation.

2:52: Eakin gets the new holding-hand-on-puck penalty to put Edmonton back on the power play on the heels of the four-on-four.

0:00: Shots on goal after one period were 11 to 9 for Edmonton.

Justin Schultz led all Oilers in ice time in the first period at 7:29. ... Eric Belanger was 4-for-6 in the faceoff circle. Oilers as a team were 47% on faceoffs. ... Mark Fistric had four hits in the first period against his old team.

20:00: The second period is now underway.

15:37: Dallas ties the game up after Dillon's shot is deflected on its way to the net by Petrell, hits the glass then comes back and bounces off Dubnyk's back and in. | EDM 1, DAL 1
Wow. get a break. Dillon's point shot goes off Petrell, off the dasher board and up in the air, off Dubnyk's back and in. 1-1.                                                            @RyanDittrick
11:47: Ben Eager gets a hand on Reilly Smith in the Oilers zone and takes a holding penalty as a result.

2:25: Aaron Rome takes a smothering the puck penalty -- the second of the night for Dallas -- late in the second period.

1:15: Lehtonen slides across to rob Gagner of a goal when it looked like the Oilers pivot had a wide open net.

0:07: With time ticking down in the period, Nugent-Hopkins feeds Eberle with a brilliant pass as he streaked towards the net. Eberle attempted a deke but just narrowly missed the mark.

0:00: Shots after two periods were 27 to 18 for Edmonton.

Belanger continues to be a demon in the faceoff circle, going 10-for-13 (77% success rating). ... Overall, Oilers have taken a 51% lead on the dot. ... Oilers have 21 hits through 40 minutes. They only had 10 in the entire game against Dallas last week.

20:00: The third period is now underway.

19:16: Dallas scores on another strange bounce to take the lead. The puck is wristed from the point by Eric Nystrom and is tipped on its way to the net off the stick of RNH, off the post and in. | DAL 2, EDM 1

15:18: Fistric and Fiddler engage in some post-whistle theatrics and as a result both get two minutes for roughing. Oilers and Stars go back to four-on-four mode.

Oilers continue to have great chances to score but simply can't convert. Nugent-Hopkins, Hall and Eberle have a productive shift but can't solve Lehtonen.
Oilers have played well. Lots of chances, good physical play. Being down 2-1 is tough to take right now. Hockey gods responding to Sunday.                         @DanTencer
6:41: Dubnyk comes up with a big stop on Eakin as the Stars centre fires a wrist shot from the left circle.

6:25: Eakin takes a hooking penalty to give the Oilers the power play and a chance to get back on even terms late in the period.

5:17: Sam Gagner heads to the penalty box. Two minutes for tripping.

4:35: Dallas' Jagr slips another goal in past Dubnyk to give them a 2 goal lead. | DAL 3, EDM 1

2:43: Ryan Garbutt scores another goal for the Stars late in the third. | DAL 4, EDM 1

19.7: Garbutt gets two minutes for hooking.
