The Edmonton Oilers take on the Dallas Stars for the first time this season. We'll be updating the action from the game as it happens. We'll also be adding photos, videos from big plays and more throughout the game.

The Oilers have made a few changes to their lineup due to a littany of injuries suffered in recent games. Out with injury is Eric Belanger, Ben Eager, Shawn Horcoff, Mark Fistric and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Mark Arcobello has been recalled from Oklahoma City and slots in on the top line with his former AHL linemates Jordan Eberle and Taylor Hall. With Fistric out, Ryan Whitney draws back in and Darcy Hordichuk also returns to the lineup.

20:00: The puck has dropped and tonight's game between the Oilers and Stars is now underway.

17:37: The Oilers have established an early 3-0 lead in shots, but Dallas comes right back with the game's best scoring chance as Reilly Smith lets a shot go from the near circle, but Devan Dubnyk kicks it out with his right pad to deny the opportunity.

13:55: In an otherwise quiet start to the game, Taylor Hall brings the crowd into it as he undresses the Stars defence and scoots in on goal, but veteran Stephane Robidas knocks the puck off his stick at the last second.

7:15: On the back of an excellent shift by Ryan Smyth, Lennart Petrell and Teemu Hartikainen, the Oilers' big guns went to work and nearly cashed the icebreaker. Jordan Eberle pulled the puck to his backhand at the goalmouth and tried to stuff it short side, but Kari Lehtonen hugged his post and cleared the puck to safety.

5:35: The Stars execute a partial 2-on-1 after Nick Schultz turned the puck over at the offensive blue line, but Dubnyk made a great save off Derek Roy to keep the game in a scoreless tie.

4:55: Stephane Robidas is sent off for interference, giving the Oilers their first power-play of the night.

2:55: The Oilers weren't on the same page and, as a result, and gave up three separate odd-man rushes in the first minute-and-a-half of the man-advantage.

0:30: Smyth takes a tripping minor as he hauls down ex Edmonton Oil King Tomas Vincour in the neutral zone.

0:00: The Oilers and Stars head into the intermission locked in a 0-0 score. Dallas will have 1:35 remaining on the power-play when the second period begins.

The Oilers went 0-for-1 on the power-play in the first period, but have still been potent this season. They came into tonight's contest scoring 12 goals on 42 opportunities (third-best in the League with a 28.6 percent success rate). ... Dallas leads in shots 12-9 after one period of play.


20:00: The second period is now underway.

16:39: The Oilers have multiple attempts on Lehtonen and eventualy get one past him. Yakupov rings a shot off the post and it goes to Hemsky who manages to fire it past a sprawled-out Dallas netminder for the goal. | EDM 1, DAL 0.

13:32: Nail Yakupov is sent off for roughing, putting Dallas back on the power play.

6:36: Jaromir Jagr feeds Jamie Benn in the slot and he makes no mistake, wristing it home to tie the game up. | EDM 1, DAL 1

2:22: Dallas does some good work along the boards deep in the Stars end, resulting in a hooking penalty on Ales Hemsky as he's caught impeding the progress of Antoine Roussel.

1:16: On that power play, Derek Roy tees up a shot from the right point past Dubnyk to give the Stars their first lead of the night. | DAL 2, EDM 1

0:00: After 40 minutes, Dallas has a 19 to 16 edge in shots over Edmonton.

Jeff Petry leads the Oilers in icetime through two periods at 15:29. Trevor Daley leads all skaters at 16:34. 

20:00: The third period is now underway.

18:21: Smyth is denied on a rebound from the top of the crease as Lehtonen quickly kicks the pad out to deny the scoring chance.

17:21: Hemsky skates in on a two on one and elects to shoot. He tries to beat Lehtonen five hole but can't solve the Dallas tender.

14:49: Moments after Dubnyk robs Reilly Smith on a close-in chance, Gagner gets hooked by Cody Eakin while breaking out of his own zone. The result is two minutes in the box for Eakin and a power play for Edmonton.

12:55: With six seconds left in the Eakin penalty, Stephane Robidas takes a high sticking penalty to put Edmonton on a brief two-man advantage.

12:22: Justin Schultz rips a shot from the high slot that beats Lehtonen as the Finnish netminder couldn't see through his fellow countryman Teemu Hartikainen. | EDM 2, DAL 2

6:04: Trevor Daley takes an interference penalty to give the Oilers a late third period power play with a chance to move into the lead.


5:00: The overtime period is now underway.

3:14: Dallas' Jagr scores the overtime goal and the Oilers fall to the Stars 3 - 2.
