The game is now underway. Oilers throw out a curveball with their opening lineup, putting Matt Hendricks at centre with Jordan Eberle and Nail Yakupov on the wings.

17:43: Hendricks takes a turn on the fourth line, showing the opening lineup to be simply a bit of a shake-up.

15:35: Andrew Ference heads to the box for high-sticking, giving the Ducks the game's first power play.

15:04: Sami Vatanen wrists a shot from the left point that eludes Fasth. | ANA 1, EDM 0

11:30: Shots on goal are 7-0 Ducks. Fasth makes a very nice stop off Tim Jackman on a partial breakaway. 

10:25: Tyler Pitlick gets a backhand on net, Edmonton's first shot of the game.

10:08: Vatanen goes to the box, giving the Oilers their first power play.

2:40: Shots are 9-2 Ducks.

19:09: Ben Scrivens comes in to replace Fasth in goal.

13:55: Rickard Rackell heads to the penalty box for tripping, giving the Oilers a power play.

6:53: A Jeff Petry penalty sends the Ducks back on the PP.

4:36: Oilers have a strong shift at the end of the penalty kill. It starts with a Nugent-Hopkins hit and ends with Tyler Pitlick rifling a shot from the right circle past Andersen after taking advantage of a turnover to make it a two-goal game. | ANA 3, EDM 1

1:02: Ryan Getzlaf bumps Ben Scrivens and gets sent to the box for goaltender interference, giving the Oilers a chance to draw within a goal as the second period starts to wind down. 0.0: Shots in the second period were 9-6 for the Oilers. In the game overall, Anaheim held a 16-12 edge after 40 minutes.


Third period is now underway. 16:11: Oilers open the third with some jump and fire the first three shots on net, narrowing the shot gap to 16-15.

15:19: The Ducks think they scored after Getzlaf batted the puck out of the air and it snuck behind Scrivens but a quick review confirms that the Oilers goaltender smothered it before the puck got anywhere near the goal line. 

9:13: Getzlaf sits for two minutes after taking a high-sticking penalty.

7:20: Taylor Hall spots Jeff Petry at the right point. Petry blasts the puck past Andersen to make it a one-goal game. Teddy Purcell got the other assist on the power play marker. | ANA 3, EDM 2

5:15: Oilers continue to push; surpass the Ducks on the shot clock, now outshooting Anaheim 22-19. 31.0: Ben Scrivens vacates the net late after Anaheim had some pressure in the Edmonton zone.

16.9: Nate Thompson scores into the empty net to ice the outcome. | ANA 4, EDM 2
