Tonight's game is now underway.

17:33: Steve Pinizzotto doesn't take long to get himself into the thick of the action. He drops the gloves with Derek Dorsett to set the tone early in this one.

10:40: Shots on goal nearly halfway through the first period are 5-2 for the Canucks. 

10:20: Nikita Nikitin gets two minutes for upending Daniel Sedin, giving Vancouver the game's first power play.

7:59: Oilers successfully kill off that penalty without allowing a shot on goal. However, they head back on the kill after Boyd Gordon gets two for clearing the puck over the glass from his own end.

5:14: Kevin Bieksa runs into Ben Scrivens. Captain Andrew Ference takes exception and drops the gloves with the Vancouver blueliner. Result is five minutes for each player and two extra to Bieksa for running Scrivens. Oilers head to the power play for the first time on the night. 

4:19: Vancouver struck for a shorthanded goal to open the scoring. Jannik Hansen got in behind the Oilers defence and made no mistake, rifling a shot high glove hand past Scrivens for the goal. | VAN 1, EDM 0

3:01: Canucks nearly make it 2-0. Alex Burrows bumped Scrivens moments before the puck was shot into the open cage. Incidental contact and ruled no goal on the ice.

0.0: Shots on goal after one period were 10-4 for the visiting Canucks.


Second period starts now.

18:54: Each team trades chances. Canucks get three quick ones early in the period. Shots now 13-4 Canucks.

18:01: Pinizzotto gets tangled up in the corner with Weber. Result is an interference penalty to the Oilers winger.

17:58: Canucks only take three seconds to convert. Radim Vrbata wires a shot off the faceoff high past Scrivens. | VAN 2, EDM 0

15:17: Steve Pinizzotto wristed a shot from the right circle that handcuffed Ryan Miller, beating him glove side and getting the Oilers on the board. | VAN 2, EDM 1

14:20: Purcell has a wide open net and fans on the shot. Play goes back the other way and Ben Scrivens makes a big save to keep it a one-goal game.

10:22: Chris Higgins scores to help the Canucks regain their two-goal lead over Edmonton. | VAN 3, EDM 1

8:30: Oilers head to the power play after Alex Burrows gets two minutes.

8:28: Burrows only ends up sitting down for two seconds. Mark Arcobello wins the draw back to Teddy Purcell who rips it by Miller | VAN 3, EDM 2

8:17: Just like that, it's a tie game! Boyd Gordon's shot from just off the side boards at a tough angle eludes Miller. Pinizzotto got an assist, completing the Gordie Howe hat trick (goal, fight, assist). | EDM 3, VAN 3

7:20: Shots on goal are now 19-15 in favour of Edmonton as the Oilers are narrowing the gap.

4:12: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins sits down for two minutes, sending Vancouver back on the PP.

3:51: Scrivens makes a brilliant save, absolutely robbing Kassian.

2:50: Canucks finally connect and it's Vrbata again with a screen shot from the left point to put the visitors back in front. | VAN 4, EDM 3

0.0: Shots after two were 25-18 for the Canucks.


Third period is now underway.

17:27: Dorsett takes a penalty for slashing, giving the Oilers power play a chance to get the game back on even terms.

16:25: Nail Yakupov got clipped with a high stick, putting Edmonton on a two-man advantage now.

13:39: Oilers get that tying goal shortly after the penalty expires. Andrew Ference blasts a shot from the left point that beats Miller. | EDM 4, VAN 4

10:53: Ryan Stanton gets a tripping penalty, putting the Oilers back on the PP.

8:28: Shortly after the penalty expires, Vancouver scores to regain the lead. Weber pinches to redirect a pass quickly for the 5-4 goal. | VAN 5, EDM 4

6:17: Taylor Hall receives two minutes for high sticking, putting the Oilers behind the eight ball in their comeback bid.

8.1: Oilers look like they have the game tied but the puck is ruled to have been kicked in the net and after a lengthy review it's ruled no goal.

0.0: That's game. Shots end up 32-31 Oilers.
