The Edmonton Oilers meet the Kings for the third and final time this season. We'll be updating the action from the game as it happens. We'll also be adding photos, videos from big plays and more throughout the game.

Devan Dubnyk gets the start while newcomer Jerred Smithson draws in for his first game. Coach Ralph Krueger did some minor adjustments to his lines.

20:00: This afternoon's game is now underway.

18:22: Mike Richards takes a pass at the left circle and tees up a one-timer past Dubnyk to give the Kings an early 1-0 lead. | LA 1, EDM 0

17:45: Ladislav Smid takes an elbowing penalty to give the Kings the game's first power play.

14:48: Jeff Carter gets sent off for high sticking to put the Oilers up a man and a chance to pull on even terms.

10:58: Kings nearly double their lead. The puck goes off Jeff Petry during a mad scramble in front of the Oilers net and rings off the post.
     Both teams go 0/1 on the PP and the Kings come close again, hitting iron a moment ago.                                                         
9:51: Kyle Clifford takes an interference penalty to send the Oilers back on the power play.

5:27: Jordan Eberle gets two minutes for hooking to give Los Angeles its second man advantage of the afternoon.

4:25: Kings capitalize on this one, with Jeff Carter redirecting a feed from Dustin Brown past Dubnyk from the top of the crease. | LA 2, EDM 0

1:22: Mike Brown gets his stick under Jake Muzzin as the Kings defenceman tries to carry the puck deeper into the Oilers zone and gets two for tripping for his efforts, giving the Kings their third power play of the game.

0:00: Shots on goal after one period were 9 to 7 for Edmonton.


Oilers were 6-for-22 in the faceoff circle in the opening period for an efficiency rating of 27%. ... Kopitar led the way for the Kings, going 8-for-10. ... Jeff Carter now has goals in four of his last five games and six points in his last six (4g, 2a).


18:29: After the Oilers killed off the Brown penalty, Clifford took his second penalty of the game to give Edmonton its third power play.

17:42: Magnus Paajarvi picked up a loose puck at the side of the net with Jonathan Quick out of position after Nail Yakupov had an in-close opportunity. Paajarvi made no mistake, depositing the puck into the open cage to draw the Oilers within a goal. | LA 2, EDM 1

     Yakupov's 21 pts puts him in a three-way tie for third in rookie scoring with Gallagher and Saad               
13:00: Jeff Petry gets two for holding after the Kings get some sustained pressure in the Oilers zone.

11:38: Slava Voynov tees up a shot from the point that finds its way past a screened Devan Dubnyk along the ice. | LA 3, EDM 1

6:13: Anze Kopitar is shaken up on a play in front of the Oilers net after getting clipped in the face by the stick of teammate Dustin Brown.
     It was Dustin Brown's stick that hit Kopitar in the face. If he knew that, would probably have gotten up a little faster. ,           
6:02: Dubnyk makes a nice blocker save on a point-blank chance by Dwight King in the slot.

0:00: Kings hold a wide margin in shots in the second period, 17 to 5 over the Oilers. In the entire game after 40 minutes, Kings were outshooting the Oilers 24 to 14.


20:00: Third period is now underway. 

10:38: Drew Doughty takes a hooking penalty to give the Oilers a power play with a chance to draw back within a goal as time ticks away in the final frame.

9:42: Dubnyk slides across to deny Richards on a shorthanded scoring chance off the rush. It was the third big save for Dubnyk in the past 90 seconds of game action. 
     Dubnyk has made a couple 10-bell saves to keep this within reach. With 10 minutes to go, the Oilers get a PP chance.        
8:38: Kings kill off the penalty.

6:40: Ryan Smyth takes a slashing minor as the third period begins to wind down.

0:49: Drew Doughty adds an empty netter for the Kings.
