IN-GAME BLOG: Barons at Marlies Game 5

Welcome to the Game 5 edition of the OKC Barons live in-game blog. We'll be updating the action from the game as it happens. We'll also be adding photos, videos from big plays and more throughout the game.

In terms of lineup changes, the Marlies remain banged up. Not dressing for the Marlies due to injury is Marcel Mueller, Mike Zigomanis, Nazem Kadri and Jesse Blacker. Tyler Pitlick is out for the Barons with an undisclosed injury. Cam Abney draws back in.

Tonight's game is now underway.

19:34: Leafs go on the attack right away as Gardiner has the puck on a string, skating around the Barons zone. Dan Ringwald took a hooking penalty to give the Marlies an early man advantage.

18:47: Matt Frattin sneaks in the back door and takes a feed from Phil Dupuis that he roofs behind Danis to make it 1-0. MARLIES 1, BARONS 0

Toronto takes a penalty to give OKC their first power play of the game. Jay Rosehill receives two minutes for hooking.

15:25: Marlies netminder Ben Scrivens comes across and robs Magnus Paajarvi with his glove. Paajarvi wrists it from the right circle after receiving a beauty cross-ice pass from Rodney.  

15:17: 41 seconds into the penalty, Rodney takes a high sticking penalty to negate the OKC man advantage.

12:52: Mark Arcobello rings one off the post on a two-on-one. Moments earlier, Paajarvi skated in on a three-on-one and elected to shoot, as Scrivens made a big pad stop on the wrister.

11:55: Spencer Abbott's breakaway attempt is foiled when he wipes out just before reaching the net.

5:28: Rodney gets penalized for the second time in the period.

3:21: Danis makes a brilliant toe stop while flat on his stomach, robbing Joe Colborne with a save shortly after the Rodney penalty expired.

47.4: Marlies captain Ryan Hamilton takes a penalty for holding Dan Ringwald in the Barons zone, putting OKC on the power play for the second time.

0:00: Buzzer sounds to end the opening period. Shots on goal were 9-8 for Toronto. | WATCH 1ST PERIOD HIGHLIGHTS

Bryan Helmer takes a two-minute penalty for cross-checking to put the Marlies on the power play for the fourth time on the night.

14:40: Danis makes a big pad stop off Deschamps on a two-on-one for the Marlies.

11:13: Cornet feeds Arcobello in front with Scrivens down and out but Arcobello fans on the shot, putting it into the glove of the Marlies netminder.

51.8: Greg Scott gets a penalty for high sticking. After the whistle, Josh Green gets two for slashing Ben Scrivens to create a four-on-four situation.

14.9: While the teams are playing four-on-four, Chris VandeVelde plans himself in the crease where Paajarvi spots him. With Scrivens down and out. VandeVelde has an easy tap-in into the open cage. MARLIES 1, BARONS 1

10.8: Seconds after the goal, Frattin gets an elbowing penalty to give the Barons a four-on-three advantage.

0:00: Time expires for period two. Barons hold a 17-16 edge in shots after 40 minutes. | WATCH 2ND PERIOD HIGHLIGHTS

Puck drops to start period three. Barons open the period on a four-on-three power play.

16:59: Toronto kills off the penalty. Barons manage two shots on goal.

11:22: Deschamps comes blazing into the Marlies zone, stops and feeds it back to the point for Simon Gysbers. Gysbers tees up a blast that beats Danis and puts Toronto back in the lead. MARLIES 2, BARONS 1

VandeVelde takes a penalty for illegal check to the head with just under eight minutes to play.

2:00: Two minutes left as the Barons press to tie the game up.

41.8: Matt Frattin slides into the open cage along with the puck to clinch the outcome. MARLIES 3, BARONS 1
