Oilers winger Matt Hendricks was on the ice with the team on Thursday, but left before the rigorous team drills took place. The veteran has missed every game this season since suffering a lower-body injury in exhibition play. He's getting closer to a return, but not ready to play yet.
"He didn't stay for the whole thing," said Head Coach Todd McLellan. "He's out skating. It's more of a rehab skate for him. There's others that have skated before practice and get off right away. They're not near ready to be involved in physical contact. Matty is probably the closest, but still not ready for it."
Iiro Pakarinen, Brandon Davidson, Drake Caggiula and Mark Fayne are further away than Hendricks, McLellan said. However, Kris Russell and Zack Kassian remain day-to-day with their ailments.
